Jason's history
Jason was the hero who led the Argonautic Expedition. His father was Aison and according to the Thessalian myths, his mother was Roio. Jason was a descendant of Aeolus the Thessalus, founder and first king of Aeolia, which was later called Thessaly. He was also a descendant of Hellenes, the progenitor of the Greeks and Deucalion, who, together with his wife Pyrrha, were the only survivors of the great flood. The name of Jason comes from the infinitive of the verb «iomai», which means, in Greek, to heal. When he was young, Jason was raised in Pelion by the centaur Chiron, who taught him sciences and medicine. Later, when he came of age, he was sent, by order of Pelias, his father's half-brother, to bring the "Golden Fleece" from distant Colchis. For this purpose, he organized the Argonautic campaign, which had a happy ending as Jason came back with it. Together with him was Medea, the daughter of the king of Colchis, whom he married and they had two sons together. Years later, Medea took revenge on him for abandoning her for the sake of Glaucus, daughter of Creon, king of Corinth, slaughtered their children, going down in history as the infanticide mother. At his later years, Jason returned to Iolkos, claiming his father's throne and lived there until the end of his life
