Centaur Chiron, son of Saturn and the nymph Philyra, was the most important figure in Greek mythology and he was distinguished among the other Centaurs for his wisdom. He was the teacher of Jason and also of Achilles, the central hero of Homer's Iliad. He lived in his cave, which is supposed to be in South Pelion, near the Milina village. To his disciples, who were brought to him either by the gods or by his former disciples, he taught the arts of astronomy, botany, healing, hunting, warfare, as well as the exercise of their own inner and natural gifts.
